Trekking in Egypt: Ancient Nomad Trails
Trekking in Egypt’s Ancient Nomad Trails in Sinai, from the coast of the Red Sea to the highlands of Saint Catherine City, was once home to nomadic tribes before they descended to the cities of South Sinai. This area is also where monks dispersed into the wilderness. It offers one of the most beautiful and wild trekking trails in Egypt. These trails provide incredible views of high peaks and dramatic valleys, with stunning scenery overlooking the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Suez.
The Ancient Nomad Trails of Sinai are among the best trekking destinations in Egypt’s wilderness, featuring hidden gems like Mount Um Shomar, Wadi Remhan, Wadi El-Rahaba, Mount Catherine, Mount Abbas, and Mount Sinai. These areas are not only beautiful but also of great historical and cultural significance to the Bedouins, both past and present.
Trekkers will also experience wild camping in the Sinai wilderness, embracing the authentic Bedouin lifestyle-cooking over an open fire, sleeping under the stars, and learning about traditional herbal medicines, customs, and traditions-on this truly epic and challenging trek.

What To Expect
Weather
Sinai’s unique weather is due to its 1600-meter-high mountains and valleys. We prefer to run this trip in spring and autumn when the daytime temperatures are lower and more pleasant for trekking (usually ranging from 15 to 30 °C). But we run a lot of other hikes during the winter and summer with prepared hikers. Winter nights can be really cold, but blankets and sleeping bags are provided for safety. Accurate data is crucial for understanding the weather conditions, as the trip date approaches. we will be able to gather information about the weather conditions that we are going to face. We’ve got to be well prepared for all conditions—the hot weather and the cold weather, with the right clothes and good equipment.
Accommodation
The Bedouins usually sleep under the stars, calling it the ‘million-star hotel.’ During our journey, we’ll camp in the wilderness, experiencing wild camping just like the Bedouins.
It’s important that everyone is prepared for this experience. To ensure your comfort and safety, each participant should bring a tent, mattress, and a sleeping bag suitable for all seasons. A 3- or 4-season sleeping bag (Comfort 0 recommended) is necessary to keep you warm and comfortable throughout the trek.
The Trekking in Egypt Trails
You don’t need to be an expert hiker to join Trekking in Egypt ancient nomad trails trip, but you do need to be fit enough to hike for at least 7–8 hours every day in Sinai weather. You will walk through the amazing boulder-strewn wadis, dramatic switchbacks sometimes and through rocky trails or green valleys. However, each day will just keep you motivated for the next with the great company and breathtaking scenery.
Food
You will have three extremely delicious bedouin meals cooked up the wood fire on the trekking in Egypt ancient nomad trails , and you can also help in their preparation if you want to. Breakfast is usually eggs, cheese, beans, honey, and jam; lunch is on the lighter side with salad, grilled eggplant, tuna salad, mashed potatoes, and white cheese; and dinner is the amazing cuisine of Bedouins, which is soup, pasta, rice, lentils, vegetables, meat, or chicken slow-cooked on charcoal or on the fire with some fruit.
