The hike to the summit of Mount Catherine takes about 5–6 hours and follows a scenic and historic path. The first 4 km take you from Saint Catherine City to the Forty Martyrs Monastery. From there, you’ll tackle the zigzagging Shaq Mousa trail, a rocky climb of another 4 km, followed by a final 2.5 km ascent to the summit. Expect ever-changing landscapes and moments of pure mountain silence.

At 2,642 meters above sea level, the summit of Mount Catherine rewards you with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Sinai mountains and distant deserts. You’ll enjoy a freshly prepared meal either at the top or at a scenic stop along the trail. After soaking in the views, you’ll begin the descent on a different 10 km trail, with options for either a rocky slope or a more adventurous boulder-jumping path, depending on your preference.
