Sinai Hikes Safety & Booking Policies | What You Should Know

This page covers everything you need to know about Sinai Hikes safety, booking policies guidelines, and preparing for your next adventure.

Sinai Hikes is run by a local Bedouin team from the heart of South Sinai. We’re not a travel agency, we are people of these mountains, born and raised among their trails. Every hike is guided by Bedouins who know the land deeply, and every step supports our local community and heritage.

Sinai Hikes Safety Guidelines & General Tips

At Sinai Hikes, safety is part of our tradition. As a Bedouin-led team from the tribes of South Sinai, we invite you to explore the mountains with us. For essential tips, read our Hiking Safety Tips — your ultimate guide to staying safe in Sinai.

By joining a Sinai Hikes trip, you confirm that you’ve read and agreed to the following:

Adventure Travel Means Flexibility

  1. Weather changes, sandstorms, sea tides, and other natural factors may affect the schedule, and in some cases, could lead to the cancellation of the trip.
  2. You can always check the latest weather forecast for Saint Catherine before your hike to prepare accordingly.
  3. Our safety approach reflects generations of living in Sinai’s mountains — not textbook rules, but real knowledge passed down through our Bedouin roots.
  4. We always try to follow the itinerary but reserve the right to adjust or cancel visits/activities for safety or logistical reasons.
  5. All activities are optional — but we follow Sinai Hikes safety protocols at every stage.

  6. Our guides are trained in desert navigation and Sinai Hikes safety procedures.

Participation is Voluntary

  1. Activities such as hiking, trekking, swimming, 4×4 rides, and camping carry certain risks.
  2. You are responsible for deciding whether to participate in each activity.
  3. We trust that you’ll make the choices that feel right for you during the journey. While our team is always here to support you, please understand that some situations may be beyond our control.

Stay With the Group

  1. Moving away from the group is done at your own risk.
  2. Always follow the guide’s instructions, especially in remote areas.

Personal Responsibility

  1. Please take care of your personal belongings during the trip. Our team will gladly assist in searching for lost items, but compensation is not possible.

Medical Conditions & Emergencies

  1. Please inform us in advance of any medical condition or allergy.
  2. Always carry your personal medication.
  3. We recommend having travel insurance in case of emergency.
  4. While medical resources may be limited in remote areas, we’ll do our best to assist and transfer you to the nearest available clinic or city if needed.

Respect Nature & Local Law

  1. To keep the experience safe and respectful for everyone, we kindly ask all guests to refrain from bringing or using alcohol or any illegal substances during the trip.
  2. Any off-itinerary activity you choose to do is fully your responsibility.

Trekking, Hiking, and Camping

Nature Has Its Risks

  1. Wildlife like scorpions, snakes, foxes, wild dogs, etc., may be encountered in remote areas.
  2. Our Bedouin guides know how to navigate and handle remote terrain — not just because they’re trained, but because this land is home. It’s been part of their lives for generations.
  3. Though rare, attacks can lead to injury.
  4. The Sinai Hikes team always prioritizes your safety.

Emergency Support

  1. While we are not legally obligated, we are morally committed to doing our best in any emergency.
  2. This includes providing first aid, contacting support, or helping with evacuation.

You’re In Remote Areas

  1. Please keep in mind that the mountain areas we explore are remote, and medical support may not be immediately available.
  2. We recommend all guests come prepared and have travel insurance for peace of mind.

4×4 Safari & Vehicle Travel Safety

When traveling in a jeep or bus, please keep these safety measures in mind:

All vehicles are driven by trusted local Bedouin drivers who understand the land, roads, and conditions of the Sinai region better than anyone.

Before Movement

  1. Adjust your seat to an upright position.
  2. Ask the guide or driver if you need any help.

During Travel

  1. Keep your seat upright.
  2. Standing or leaning out of windows (side or top) is strictly prohibited.

Vehicle Risks

  1. 4×4 or bus travel may involve tire damage, rough roads, sand bumps, or rare accidents.
  2. These carry certain risks — though rare — such as bumps, breakdowns, or accidents. By joining, you acknowledge and accept these possibilities.
  3. Sinai Hikes is not responsible for any injury or loss related to transportation.
